My First English 3 Essay
The Power of Music
In the world, there are many barriers that divide people. It may be oppression, war, and many more things - we humans have separated ourselves from one another. Although that this is true, there is a power that has the ability to bring everyone together, that power is called Music. Music breaks many barriers, race and language are one of them.
Personally, I love group harmony. I collect the genre, and I find joy in sharing this music to all and everybody. Not only do lots of people enjoy this music, people have made lifestyles after it. Car Shows / Car Cruises are one type of event that bring us together; there is a feeling of happiness in the air and I get to talk to people from many backgrounds - and we all share the love for music. As a young teen, I spend most of my free time digging out sounds almost no one has heard of, and finding music that will unite more and more people together as friends.
As mentioned earlier, Car Shows and Cruises bring people together. In Santa Maria, we are a lowrider community. There are mostly Chicanos in Santa Maria, many of which grew up around the Lowrider cultura and the music associated with it. When I DJ the annual "West Coast Kustoms" city cruise, I'm able to draw hundreds of people from different backgrounds to come together and enjoy music. I have Chicano Pride and I love exposing the "raza" to sounds other than their used to, sounds of groups of different nationalities and different styles. Seeing people come together simply for their love of music is a beautiful thing.
All in all, my gift and talent of using music to bring people together is something I appreciate. It has shown me that all and everybody can come together to enjoy life as it is, and enjoy the sweet candy to our ears that we call music. Not only does it make me happy seeing people happy because of music, it creates everlasting memories that i'll always remember, and gives me sure hope that i'll make even more memories. This is just a simple bit of what the power of music has done for me, I hope you will be able to let it mold you as it has to me.
